Marit Stromoy of Norway Defeats 17 Men in World Championship

39 year-old female makes history!

Marit Stromroy-Racing from Norway won the UIM F1H2O World Championship race December 18th, 2015. Marit is the first female ever, in the 32 year history of the race, to win a top level F1 Championship! The historic race marked her first spot on the podium as she held off three-time World Champion Alex Carella of Italy. It was a great day for Marit Stromoy-Racing and a great day for women.

What is Formula 1 Racing? F1 powerboat racing is a worldwide watersport. Formula 1 powerboats are capable of accelerating from a standstill to 99 miles per hour in only 4 seconds….now that is speed on the water. On January 31st, 2016, Marit reached out to her friends and fans on facebook to announce that she was, “Proud and humble after winning “Athlete of the Year” in Sandefjord, 2015″.   She went on to thank team victory, her sponsors, friends and family.  She stated, “This is a team victory and a great recognition of the sport”.  Her next race is scheduled for March 2nd-4th, The Grand Prix of Dubai, Dubai, UAE.
