Making waves in the history books

Kate McCue becomes the first woman in the US cruise industry to become captain of a megaton passenger ship. Kate took her first cruise when she was 12 years-old. The cruise was a 4-day trip to the Bahamas with her family. Kate loved the sea and shared with her family that she would like to someday work on a cruise ship. Kate’s Dad encouraged her to aim high and set her sites on being the captain one day. Kate did just that, out of 100s of cruise ships at sea, there is one, with a woman at the helm. Kates maiden voyage was at the helm of Celebrity’s Summit. The Summit carries roughly 2,100 passengers and a crew of 950. The ship travels for 14 days between the Eastern US and The Caribbean.
